چکیده

Abstract The purpose of this study was to make made-to-measure compression garments that elicit pressures within and below clinical standards. also examined whether gradients can be replicated between participants’ legs, separate garment conditions. Ten males volunteered participate. Based on three-dimensional scans the lower body, three different were manufactured: control, symmetrical asymmetrical. Garment assessed from malleolus gluteal fold using a pressure monitoring device. A root mean squared difference analysis used calculate in vivo linear graduation parameters. Linear regression showed peak at ankle left right leg were: control garment, 13.5 ± 2.3 12.9 2.6; asymmetrical 12.7 2.5 26.3 3.4; 27.7 2.2 27.5 1.6 (all mmHg, standard deviation). Pressure reduction 8.9 3.5 7.4 3.0; asymmetrical, 7.8 3.9 21.9 3.2; symmetrical, 25.0 4.1 22.3 3.6 Made-to-measure made standards, equivalent participants.

Limbs Made to Measure

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of D’Arcy Thompson, the British biologist, classicist, and all round polymath (For more information on D’Arcy Thompson see www. darcythompson.org). Like many, he was fascinated by the appearance and structure of living matter, and in his influential book, On Growth and Form [1], he set out to describe and explain the principles of morphogenesis...

Made to measure?

324 British Journal of General Practice, June 2013 My next patient walks in confidently wearing a big smile. All the training I’ve done in non-verbal communication kicks in and I suspect that his depression is starting to get better. He hands me a PHQ-9 with a flourish which confirms my initial impressions. I’m usually sceptical of these scoring tools, but this is no ordinary PHQ-9, this a luxu...

Compression Garments: Informed by Sensory Integration Dysfunction

This paper describes a user focused approach to the design of made-to-measure pressure emitting contemporary garments for children who are affected by the development disorder sensory integrative dysfunction (SID). These garments aim to aid the integration of tactile (touch), vestibular (movement) and proprioceptive (body position) sensations. The approach builds on previous pressure garment st...

Effect of Compression Garments on Physiological Responses After Uphill Running

Limited practical recommendations related to wearing compression garments for athletes can be drawn from the literature at the present time. We aimed to identify the effects of compression garments on physiological and perceptual measures of performance and recovery after uphill running with different pressure and distributions of applied compression. In a random, double blinded study, 10 train...
